May 6, 2000 - Phobos
(Editor's note: Phobos is also known as The Phobosopher King.)
I drove by before the event. I remember reflecting on how amusing it might have been for some SP to splice into the rented satellite dish and substitute some choice scenes from Xenu-TV for whatever signal they were planning on watching. As it was, I contented myself with leaving a couple of scraps of paper with some URLs for a balanced assessment of Scientology, along with my email address in case they had the net-ninny installed. I had brought them along in case I ran into anyone on their way into the building, but I gather I was a bit early.
I had other things to do that night, and besides it was cold and had been raining, so I didn't stick around, but later, around 9:00, I happened by again and estimated around two dozen cars in the parking lot of the community hall, which was about 2/3 full. I don't know how many may have been parked in other places around the neighbourhood, or how many came by other means, but I didn't notice any bicycles.
