From: Warrior Newsgroups: alt.religion.scientology,nl.scientology Subject: Austin activity report - Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 Date: 21 Sep 2001 12:31:23 -0700 Message-ID: <9og4ib02hau@drn.newsguy.com> For approximately one hour and fifteen minutes yesterday I engaged in an information campaign (some call it a picket, but I prefer not to) near the University of Texas at Austin. I arrived on the "drag" (Guadalupe Street) in the 2300 block near the crosswalk across from the University of Texas (UT Austin) campus west mall around 1PM. As there are thousands of pedestrians coming west across the crosswalk from UT campus to the opposite side of Guadalupe Street, this is a great place to position myself with my signs and fliers. Several hundred, perhaps thousands of people, mostly students, saw my two signs during the 75 minutes I was there. I had been joined shortly before by two good wogs (tm), "Icee" and "Roscoe", who offered to help leaflet as well as document my activities with a Hi-8 video camera and a digital camera. Photos will be posted later to a.b.s. (alt.binaries.scientology) Usenet newsgroup later. As many readers may already be aware, it is not my style or intent to taunt, mock, harass or interfere with the $cientology cultists or their business. At no time yesterday did I pass in front of their "org". Instead, I walked on an area of the sidewalk north of their storefront, generally between the Co-op and the 23rd street market. One does not need to "get in their face" to be harassed, as I will soon show... After a few minutes, a young, pimpled fellow, perhaps around 5'4", with blonde hair and a wrinkled blue shirt approached me asking, "Why are you doing this?" I inquired whether he was a $cientologist, to which he stated, "No; I'm just curious..." Sensing that he was lying to me, I handed him a flier with "www.xenu.net" printed on it, and I told him to read the web site, saying, "The information is all there." A little while later I noticed Cathy Norman, Director of Special Affairs (DSA) of the Austin Org, standing outside of her cult's building, talking with an unidentified male (most likely a fellow staff member.) "Icee" and "Roscoe" continued to film, videotape and pass out fliers. In the 75 minutes we were there, "Icee" managed to pass out approximately 125 fliers, all with "www.xenu.net" on them, while also pausing from time to time to take digital photos and to answer questions from the interested passersby. "Icee" may be posting more about this later. The next thing I remember is another unidentified man coming up to me and asking me essentially the same thing, i.e., "Why are you doing this?" He also asked me something like, "Who or what is Xenu?" Again, as with the previous lying $cientologist, I simply told him to read the web site, and I simply handed him a flier. I continued walking back and forth on Guadalupe Street with my two signs, occasionally stopping to answer questions from some of the curious wogs (tm). A young red-haired lady approached me asking lots of questions about the cult (her word), stating that she has a boyfriend who is involved. She had _lots_ of questions, so I spent about 15 minutes answering them all the best I could. I even gave her my web site URL - http://warrior.offlines.org, and she wrote it down, carefully making sure she had the correct spelling. Before I could finish our conversation, an Austin policeman approached me asking whether he could speak to me. He was accompanied by another cop who just stood by and listened. As expected, Cathy Norman began taking photos of me talking with the police. Perhaps she'll make up other lies and forward them to the culties who maintain the pages of other critics on their so-called "religious bigots" sites. I asked the first policeman if I had been accused of having committed a crime, to which he responded, "Yes; she [the $cieno lady Cathy Norman] says that around a year and a half ago you put graffiti on their building." I assured him that I had not, to which his response was, "Do you know who did?" I told him that I do not know, and in fact that I hadn't even seen the graffiti alleged to have been put on their building. I further assured him that in no time in the past have I _ever_ put any graffiti on any building, sidewalk, fence, car, or *anything*, anywhere, since this is illegal. I also told the police that I had heard that same false allegation last year, also from Cathy Norman, during the end of my April 2000 information campaign. He inquired whether I knew her, to which I responded that I know who she is, but that I do not really "know" her personally -- just that I am able to identify her and that I know her staff position. I explained "FAIR GAME" to the policemen, and told them why the culties were harassing me by making false allegations in an attempt to get me arrested. And I told the cops to tell $cientology that *if* they (the cult) had any evidence of me having committed a crime -- which they do not, since I have not committed any crime -- they are welcome to press charges. The first policeman (who did all the talking) assured me that I was completely within my rights to engage in my information campaign, and I thanked him while handing him a "www.xenu.net" flier. After this I said goodbye and left, as I had other business to attend to. Once again, $cientology proved the point on one of my signs, which is $cientology LIES. See http://www.scientology-lies.com for more information. That's it for now. I may think of more to post later, and I will definitely post pictures to a.b.s. as promised, after I have had a chance to capture them from videotape and convert them to jpegs. Under the pains and penalty of perjury I attest that the above is true and correct to the best of my recollection and knowledge.
